The final objective of the project in the Industrial Property area, in which this Entrepreneurship Valley belongs, is the development of natural compounds originating in the sea of Sagres/Vila do Bispo as potential therapeutic molecules and their subsequent commercialization. For the execution of this objective, several sequential research and development activities are foreseen, which foresee the submission of patent applications at national and international level on molecules of marine origin with therapeutic potential, as well as their extraction, purification and synthesis process . The first activity of this project is related to the collection of marine invertebrates and then, with the respective marine extracts (raw), to carry out bioactivity tests in cell cultures. Our preliminary laboratory results show bioactivity of these natural compounds of marine origin in cell models representative of two diseases of different etiology: chronic pain and dermatitis. The second activity is related to the purification of marine extracts and the elucidation of the chemical structure of the identified molecules that have bioactivity in our cell models. After identifying the chemical structures of the molecules of interest, it will then become essential to patent the entire chemical process of extraction, purification and synthesis of molecules, as well as their chemical structures and their applications. All of this constitutes Sea4Us invention to protect
