The Sea4Us’s project “From the Portuguese sea to the treatment of chronic pain” is one of the finalists of the 11th edition of Innovation Awards, promoted by NOVO BANCO!
Sea4Us participated in the Blue Business Forum (FIL) on days 4-6th June in the framework of Blue Week Lisbon 2015.
Our participation had the support of our partners, especially, NOVA Medical School / FCM-UNL, and also the Municipality of Vila do Bispo, the company Mar Ilimitado and the Portuguese Association for the Study of Pain (APED), with exhibition materials and participation in the Sea4Us video on display at our stand.
We received many visitors to whom we had the opportunity to expose our projects and latest achievments, including some visits from distinguished Minister of Agriculture and Marine Affairs, Dra. Assunção Cristas, and Minister of Education and Science, Dr. Nuno Crato.
Sea4Us was proudly represented by Pedro Lima at the Biomarine Resources Delegation, integrated in the official three-day visit of the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic to Norway (3th – 6th May), with an agenda focused on the sea!

Sea4Us is one of the founding members of BLUEBIO ALLIANCE, the new national platform about marine biotechnology and marine bioresources that was presented yesterday in Cascais.

Sea4Us’s project “Aquaculture of marine organisms for the development of compounds with therapeutic activity” was approved by the Portuguese governmental authorities!
Sea4Us is developing products of marine origin of high interest for biomedicine, from specific marine species of the Portuguese coast. For the development and production of such medicinal products, there is a pressing need for significant quantities of these species, which are not compatible with a sustainable management of the resource in nature. One of the strategies for production of these therapeutic compounds in a sustainable manner is aquaculture of the marine species of interest. This project aims at cultivating such species in aquaculture while assuring that their bioactive characteristics are maintained.
Sea4Us was interviewed by the Algarve regional newspaper “Barlavento Journal” (“Weekly Regional Algarve Newspaper”).
